Special Interest Group Meeting Announcements
"APOS has established the Oncology Supportive
Care Services and the
Electronic Medical Record (OSCS EMR) SIG. The major
purpose of this SIG is to share
individual and organizational experiences concerning using the EMR to
support the provision of all oncology supportive care services. Specific
OSCS functions
the EMR can support include patient screening, referral management, clinical
documentation, outcomes assessment, quality management, and clinical
trials processes. All APOS attendees are invited to attend the OSCS EMR
SIG breakfast!"
Deane L. Wolcott, M.D.
Chair, OSCS EMR SIG
"The Disparities SIG is going into its third year since its inception,
and
includes a stellar and passionate group of researchers and clinicians from
around the country and world. We welcome new members to join our mission
to reduce health disparities through research, outreach, and clinical
intervention. Areas of focus include improving medical access, screening,
prevention, quality of life, and health outcomes. Come join us at our
next meeting at APOS in February. Also, several members will be
presenting a pre-conference workshop on "Interventions to Enhance
Medical
Treatment Adherence & Psychosocial Outcomes among Underserved Cancer
Survivors". We hope to see you there!"
